Sri Lankan babe Mathangi Arulpragasam aka M.I.A., the London-based rapper
who has an album, Arular, out now in the US and UK. Its a hip hop/
jungle/ ethnic mix of dance styles and rap with Galang, Sunshowers and
Pull Up The People getting mainstream radio airplay.
The 27-year-old refuses
to be co-opted and has stayed indie. She told Billboard, "Im
not going to turn into a pop artist or a tamed down version of what Im
