Neil Young
Living With War Live [no label, 1CD]

Have you ever wondered how Neil Young's new album, Living With War, would sound live? While fans have compiled the album's tracks as performed live by Neil Young and posted them on the internet, other fans such as CHerrmann57 have tweaked the tracks for a better sound.

This is what CHerrmann57, who must be thanked for his efforts and for contributing the tracks, said: "After listening to davemorebarn's beautiful collection of Neil Young tunes, I decided to do this remastered version as there were several issues with these tracks. As these recordings came from various concerts in different venues the sound wasn't similar at all which was a little bit annoying to my ears. Besides that some were louder than others and track 02 had a problem with the balance: the right channel was much louder than the left one. I tried to solve all these problems using Audacity and Nero Wave editor (inkl. EQ) and hope that I've created a work that should be sound better than the original tracks."

In May, Young released Living With War, a blistering attack on Dubya and the Iraq War, just before embarking on the current Freedom Of Speech Tour, which is devoted to getting Americans to speak up and out about the war. In an interview with CNN, Young said: "There's a conscience in the country, and I don't think it's being spoken. Everyone deserves a chance to be heard... we don't have to believe what our president believes to be patriotic."

For example, when the band played Let's Impeach The President at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, California, it's protest karaoke time - the lyrics were shown on a video screen and the crowd got the chance to sing along.

As the Boston Herald says, "Whether you're with him or against him, what's undeniable is his ability to offer pointed political criticism in a way that's passionate and honest."

Note: Thanks to Davemorebarn who initially compiled and offered the tracks.
