Nice collection of tracks from assorted radio shows - the late, great John Peel can be heard talking over the end of Child Of My Kingdom, but I am unsure of precise sources… Vincent Crane, who would later go on to form the much under-rated Atomic Rooster, is a constant presence on this - especially the extended workout on Track 10. 372] Jimi Hendrix - Gypsy Sun & Rainbows: Shokan - UPGRADE [no label 3CD Torrent: 75215] Shokan was the house Jimi Hendrix stayed in New York City. These sessions recorded there was in August 1969. This is an upgraded version of the 3 disc Jimi Hendrix "Shokan" set. What has been UPGRADED - the earlier torrent omitted the alt mixes included in the original set, those are present here.

- 3 tracks have been upgraded, they now come from a lower gen source

- this upgraded version is "authorized" (for lack of a better word), ie the upgrade was done by the original compiler of the set, and the ape-files are the ones originally circulated, no conversions from one file format to another have been done.

The following tracks have been upgraded:
Disc 1
Track 10 Sundance
Disc 3
Track 5 Instrumental Jam (JA3)
Track 6 Jams / Villanova Junction (JA4-5)

Lineage is not known but the tapes are of low generation, perhaps circa 2nd or 3rd gen. None of this material has ever been released officially. Ex SBD stereo.

Taken from low generation audience tape and mastered by fan Eddie Edwards. New source. 381] Arthur Lee and Love - The Hendrix Sessions [no label 1CD Torrent: 74284] Tks 1-8 with Hendrix live at Olympia Studios, London March 1970. Tks 9-17 Love Live at Falkoner Theatre in Copenhagen March 12, 1970. Tks 18-22 Love live at Tivoli Gardens March, 1970. "At sometime during the month of March, they jammed in the studio with Jimi. These sessions apparently were put onto an acetate, which Arthur Lee brought into a radio station at a later date. The acetate was played over the air, and the radio transmission was recorded with amateur equipment, which accounts for the sound quality. It's possible that is Arthur Lee's voiceover fragment at the very beginning of Midnight Sun. There are eight tracks in all." The rest of the tracks are taken from Love’s tour of Europe in March 1970.

No, none of these are audience recordings.

382] George Michael - Paris 1988 [no label 1CD Torrent: 74849] live in France, May 31, 1988. A Westwood One broadcast. "This is truly one of the very best George Michael bootlegs to ever surface. This was recorded during the height of his commericial success, on the wildly successful Faith Tour. George is at the very top of his game vocally, even hitting the high notes in "One More Try" with ease. "Hard Day" comes off much better here than it does on the record, making for an excellent lead-off track. The Stevie Wonder cover, "Love's In Need Of Love Today" is a song that suit's George's voice perfectly and he really shines on it. The hit duet with Aretha Franklin, "I Knew You We're Waiting" is performed solo here, and you really don't miss Aretha, George nails it on his own. "Careless Whisper" is milked to the extreme, with an extended saxaphone solo that really takes this epic to the next level. Deon Estus, bass player and backround vocalist is a standout on this recording, laying down a solid groove throughout the show. The 1996 unplugged shows are excellent, but this recording, with a full band is very, very special." - Ryan "Lil King"

"This was one of the very first Japanese bootlegs and the producers simply transfered Vinyl to CD - so you have to expect hiss and typical vinyl-noise - but so far it is the best sounding version (but that's my ears) I've ever heard maybe except from my own tapes which I can't find." Ex- SBD stereo.

395] The Rolling Stones - Early Stitches: Tattoo You outtakes and demos [RS 2CD Torrent: 75543] This is same as Rattlesnake's "TATTOO TOO" but with 3 more songs. Tattoo You was released in 1981. Very good to excellent soundboard recordings of 1975-80 sessions. VG to Ex SBD stereo.

396] The Rolling Stones - The Foottappers And Wheel Shunters Club Gig [Vinyl Gang 2CD Torrent: 75302] live in Amsterdam, Paradiso Club, May 27, 1995. "This show was suppose to be the original Stripped LP. However with most live recordings, they never made it to press as an LP. Stripped ended up being done live in a studio but without a crowd. I read on a website, Fingerprint File, Mick ordered this whole recording to be dumped into the sea... Luckily it wasn't. 2 tracks have been offically released, which have been deleted for this torrent: "Like a Rolling Stone" is suppose to be offical from Stripped.. "This isn’t sourced from the 2CD "Thesaurus of Funkasaurus" bootleg. Instead it’s a superior source. There's a little FM dropout in the right channel during the start of Stand, thats the only flaw I could find." Lineage: 1971 VPRO FM broadcast>Revox Reel2Reel-deck> WAV> FLAC. Ex SBD stereo. Some serious dropouts.

402] Sly & The Family Stone - PikNik 1970: REMASTERED [no label 1CD Torrent: 75486] live at Piknik Kasteel Groeneveld Baarn, The Netherlands, Oct 9, 1970. "This is a fixed version of what was recently seeded, which has serious digital dropouts for some of tracks 3 and 4 - now cleaned up by splicing in sections from an alternate source of similar sound quality. The show has also been normalized which improved it all a lot to my ears (listen on headphones if you have any doubts)."

"I'm hazy on exactly what "Piknik Kasteel Groeneveld Baarn" means as to the venue, place and radio show but I've had this previously listed as Baary, Holland "Piknik Show" VPRO session. I've also seen it listed as 9-2-70, so 9-10-70 might have been the original broadcast date with the info I had being for the recording date. Any clarifications will be appreciated."

403] John Stewart - Savoy Theatre 1988 [no label 2CD Torrent: 74681] live in Santa Barbara, CA, Mar 5 1988. "Good soundboard recording but some distortion. I like to think of this recording asd a sort of live version of Punch The Big Guy." Ex- SBD stereo.

407] The Who - "Gutter Punks At A Warehouse" : Remastered [no label 1CD Torrent: 74701] live at the Warehouse in New Orleans, Louisiana Nov 29, 1971. "Virtually every track had very different frequency responses. Therefore, each track has to be mastered using different values. This goes for each channel on each track as well. A fairly large amount of Eq'ing has been done here... In many cases, depending on the channel balance and amp level, amplification and channel mixing has been used to get a more well rounded out and clearer sound where possible. I've also done some cutting, pasting and fading in and out in sections where necessary. No form of noise reduction has been used on this recording." - theface07 VG+ SBD stereo.

408] Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention - Fillmore West 1970 [no label 1CD Torrent: 75628] live at Fillmore West, San Francisco, CA, November 6, 1970. Taken from Bill Graham Productions Archive Soundboard Master."This version may be closer to the Bill Graham Productions archive master as it does not suffer from several major dropouts and right channel level reductions that were inherant to that other version. This copy is also far better in terms of accurate track indexes and has a corrected setlist to match. The only noted flaws on this copy are a splice (only a few seconds missing) on track 14, probably due to a reel change and the master reels again running out at 1:47 of track 28." Also, of interest to fans of the "Burnt Weeny Sandwich" LP, this performance includes lyrics and vocals on the formerly instrumental "Little House I Used To Live In" and "Holiday In Berlin, Full Blown." Ex SBD stereo.

409] Frank Zappa - Rotterdam 1980 [no label 2CD Torrent: 74194] live at The Ahoy - Rotterdam, Netherlands, May 24, 1980. "The show was booted ferociously but here we have a recent re-broadcast captured to CDR from a master FM recording." Ex FM stereo.

410] The Beatles - The Complete John Barrett’s Master Cassette Tapes [no label 6CDs] "In the past every Barrett tapes set were imperfect… because the person with the original tapes decided to manipulate, edit and fade them, and piece-meal slightly different versions out to many bootleggers… pissing off collectors… This boxset is including all the songs of the Barrett tapes. The master is made and for sale by the collectors at the Beatlefest." This new 2005 set described on the cover as "made in Brasileira" is supposedly limited to 500 copies and that it is taken from Barrett’s own 15 cassettes. But there is a caveat on the cover art as well: "A correspondent reports that blank Abbey Road Studios cassette cards were being offered for sale at the Chicago Beatlesfest by a European dealer. This raises the possibility that we’re dealing with games within games here, and that the Barrett cassette box, themselves have been forged." Ex SBD stereo. I’ve no idea what to believe but definitely not worth throwing money here, just trade for this.

411] The Beatles - Get Back + Winter Of Discontent [ATU Productions & Picture Perfect 2DVD] "This is a new phase Beatles video album… essential is the content from the film Let It Be in that they performed live for most of the tracks; in comes the warmth and freshness of a live performance…" These are outtakes of the Let It Be film from Jan 1969. Includes a bonus DVD - Winter Of Discontent which is the Rooftop Concert. This was released late 2005. DVD1 Video VG, Audio VG to Ex SBD mono? DVD2 Video Ex-, Audio Ex SBD stereo?
