These were oversized shellac discs that held extensive amounts of music-far exceeding the roughly three minutes available on 78-rpms sold at the retail level." Shibusashirazu Orchestra - Tokyo 2006 [no label 2CD Torrent: 100103] live
at Urga, Tokyo Nishi-Shinjuku, Apr 21, 2006. "This is simply the best
show I have heard by them ever. Here in 2006 Fuwa has been experimenting
quite a bit during gigs - and as a result the tunes go in unexpected directions.
This set, played at a small heavy metal club in Tokyo is a pretty good
example of that; entire gig is one continious piece. You´ll find
that many tunes have been heavily rearranged, and there are things that
will surprise even the most hardcore Shibu freak. For instance, Fuwa sings!
Won´t spoil the fun for downloaders, but something you would never
expect to happen, DOES happen during the last 10 mins of Matatabi (it
involves Mari Sekine and Aya Murodate). You´ll find the playing somehow
more subtle than usual, but just as crazy and inventive. The sound quality
is slightly better than perfect." Recorded by MrGrumpy. Ex AUD stereo.

Cedar Walton Trio - Paris 1990: GOODY REMASTER (no label 2CD dime 461735) live at Latitude St. Germain, Paris, France, March 21, 1990. A Goody Remaster of a watten Torrent. Source was Jazz Club radio show on France Musique. Lineup: Cedar Walton - piano; David Williams - bass and Billy Higgins - drums. Goody's comments: "I have no idea why there are 2 performances of "Cedar's Blues", but I'm not complaining! Most likely, this broadcast was compiled from more than one date. Watten's original torrent had no splits for what are now tracks 10, 11 & 12. Upon listening to a very long Track 10 in the source, I discovered the other titles and tracked them for this edition. I also lowered the volume of all the tracks, as they were a bit hot and in the red, but not so that they appear distorted, fortunately. Any big glitches I found are now repaired, and I came across many other little clicks, pops and static which I also did my best to repair or reduce. There may still be more of those here that I could have missed in trying to get this out to you, (hopefully, not,) to help celebrate Cedar's life and music. These performances are among his and the trio's best. And what a trio it was! Everyone gets multiple chances to really shine." Bless you Goody. Ex- FM stereo. TT: 141 minutes. Some FM hiss. 185917] live in New York, November 1969. "Songs 1 & 2 are from the
tape that was broadcast and most collectors have. Songs 3,4,5 are off
the unedited radio station master reel." "Tony Williams Lifetime a five-song
radio broadcast from late November 1969, the first 2 songs while not 100%
are a lower gen than what most collectors have and no noise reduction
added or any tweaking done (the person I got the tape from said they were
told the radio broadcast was from late November 1969).
"In the USA, Lifetime's
Emergency was released as two separate LP's and it appears Polydor to
stimulate interest in the 2nd LP gave a tape with a couple of live tracks
to a New York radio station ("Emergency" and a new song the as yet unrecorded
"To Whom it May Concern"). The radio station must have asked for more
so they could play a longer live broadcast and Polydor recorded Lifetime
in the studio and gave them this tape.
"Whether all 5 songs
are from the same session or 2 sessions or a mix of live and studio will
only be answered when someone writing a Tony Williams discography has
access to the Polydor recording session files." Lineup: Tony Williams

"Herbert Joos may be unfamiliar, he's probably best known as a mainstay of the Vienna Art Orchestra, though back in the 70's, he made a few interesting solo albums, and even recorded in trio format for FMP.
Fans of GUO, Alan Silva's Celestial Orchestra, Francois Tusques inter communal music and other Sonic LOVE fests will find plenty to enjoy! ... a gamut ranging from 'Afro Rock,' Qwela tinged pieces through to freebop, psychedelicious 'Bitches Brew' style rock vamps ... great percussion jams, and best of all ferocious free improv over long droning horn ostinati ... this has it all!
Among the highlights featuring some of the most electrifying performances in this set, for me are the trio-to-quintet pieces featuring Terje Rypdal in completely free mode ... taking it beyond Hendrix and even early Sonny Sharrock's fiercest sonic abstractions. Splendid stuff which clearly presages the material on Rypdal's great album 'What comes after' ECM 1031, a few of which pieces are present in skeletal form.
There's also a magnificent sprawling version of Barre Phillips' Just 8 which some may remember from the unique, Japo LP 'For all it is' (Japo, 60 003) recorded in March of the same year."
