It compiles all of the Twickenham Camera B Nagra Rolls from January 3-14, 1969 in the best available sound quality. Unicorn previously released a 24 disc box set titled Get Back Camera B Rolls (UC-S001-S024) with material from January 25th to 31st, 1969 in June 2002 and in November 2002 issued a 10 disc box set called Get Back Camera B Rolls Vol.2 (UC-S025-S034) presenting the sessions from January 22nd-25th 1969, again unearthing more unheard and previously unbootlegged Nagra tapes.

"Unicorn planned to release this set originally in 2003. The artwork was posted online, but the set hadn't been released until now. These are all original silver discs, not CDR, and haven't been circulated. The sound quality is uniformly excellent. This set, according to the liner notes, collects "together more unearthed Nagra tapes for the first time on compact disc and is the last in the series of Camera B rolls released by Unicorn Records."

"Unicorn include a lengthy essay by Michael Philips, published in the January 2003 edition of Time Trip magazine giving a detailed history of the Get Back sessions and their various incarnations on bootleg. He writes: "For over 20 years, the collecting public has been fed a continuing stream of bootlegs drawn from the Twickenham sessions. These have usually been chopped up, placed out of sequence, and presented in inferior sound quality."

BBC SESSIONS

The Beatles - The BBC Archives 1962 - 1970 (no label 24CD demon 3154970) This is a free 24 disc set designed to accompany Kevin Howlett's 2013 book The BBC Archives. The set includes every known surviving BBC radio music and interview appearance from 1962-1970, plus guest appearances by other acts, and (as bonus items) interviews with those involved in the sessions. The sessions are arranged chronologically, with several Special Editions including the complete 5th birthday Saturday Club, The Beatles Abroad, all of the group's appearances on the Top Of The Pops radio series up to 1970, the BBC Beatles Night in December 1963, and a DVD of their surviving BBC TV appearances.

All tracks have been pulled from the best possible sources including original transcription discs and tapes. Dropouts, mains hum and other annoyances have been carefully removed. Noise reduction has not been used, although some sources had noise reduction burned in. Early fades have all been fixed where possible.

A number of upgrades are included, plus some previously unheard guest appearances. And as a special bonus, a selection of never before heard continuity from the Light Program and Home Service is included, giving a bird's eye view into the hilariously stuffy state of British radio in the early 1960s. The Beatles - Unsurpassed Broadcasts Second Edition 2010 [Hobnail 13CDs demonoid 2325728] The Beatles at the BBC 1962 to 1968, the latest version since the Pyramid bootlegs.

Dr Roberts says: how does this compare to the Purple Chick? "First the good news. Several new sonic upgrades have surfaced, some from underground, others from the BBC last year. Many of the tracks have had drop-outs removed, missing pieces re-inserted, cleaned up and equalised. Not much of the Purple Chick set sources have been used. In some cases original vinyl has been sourced.

And the bad news: The compiler has used noise reduction on many of the tracks. Despite claiming in the release notes that this has not had a negative effect on the audio, the artefacts are easy to hear. Professional audio engineers using the latest equipment struggle to make noise disappear without affecting the music and they are generally working with much cleaner material than bootlegs. When the noise reduction has been applied to the music it is less noticeable, apart from fades and quiet passages. However when applied to speech it sounds like a great big squelch control.

I think this is a great pity, as the amount of work that has obviously gone into the project should have made this the definitive version. Alas it has not. I also wish people would listen with more critical ears. Especially those that should know better! So, I will be keeping my Purple Chick discs, for the time being at least."

And a response to the above from mcmirrors: "I think you are exaggerating a little. There's a faint pumping on some of the noiser dialogue, that's all. Most of it sounds fine."

An excellent new version in our honest opinion.

The Beatles - Unsurpassed Broadcasts Special Edition 2014: Upgrades (hobnail 2CD) In 2010, fan Hobnail upgraded the Beatles BBC recordings with his 13CD set Unsurpassed Broadcasts Second Edition. In January 2014, a further two volumes were released as Unsurpassed Broadcasts Special Edition. All the tracks on CD1 were from BBC shows recorded and broadcast in 1963 from Saturday Club, Easybeat, Pop Go The Beatles, The Public Ear and The Beatles Say From Us To You. The solitary recording from 1962 is the BBC show Here We Go, June 11, 1962. CD2 had shows from 1964 and included interviews. Five of the six tracks were MP3 sourced. Ex SBD/FM stereo/mono. The master is made and for sale by the collectors at the Beatlefest." This new 2005 set described on the cover as "made in Brasileira" is supposedly limited to 500 copies and that it is taken from Barrett's own 15 cassettes. But there is a caveat on the cover art as well: "A correspondent reports that blank Abbey Road Studios cassette cards were being offered for sale at the Chicago Beatlesfest by a European dealer. This raises the possibility that we're dealing with games within games here, and that the Barrett cassette box, themselves have been forged." Ex SBD stereo. Barrett had been in charge of cataloging EMI's Beatles tape library for over a year, and Scott was brought in to assist him in shaping an audiovisual presentation for the public, The Beatles At Abbey Road.

"As they auditioned various recordings, Barrett made cassette compilations of various outtakes, creating fresh stereo mixes from the multitracks. Scott also took the liberty of dubbing some session reels from start to finish, along with a few vintage mixes. The result was nearly eight hours of pristine-quality unreleased Beatle material which ended up on various bootlegs over the last 25 years: Ultra Rare Trax, Unsurpassed Masters, et al.

"We have compiled ALL of the Barrett/Scott tapes here, straight from the vaults to your ears. All that's missing are the low-fi offline 'bag tapes' recorded stealthily by Scott. Not only do those repeat much of this material, they would interrupt what is a pleasant listening experience. The tapes have been sorted in chronological order, speed-corrected, and edited for completeness from various best sources. No noise reduction or equalization has been employed. Sit back, relax, and for God's sake be quiet! The Red Light's On!"

This is a great fan compilation with just the odd slightly-lower quality track here and there. Ex SBD stereo/ mono. Worthy of repeated listening.

"This tape was originally thrown in as a bonus with the Decca tape when the late Joe Pope and two friends bought a copy in the mid 70s. Presumably Joe made copies for someone else too, as years later it turned up on a vinyl lp called ABBEY ROAD NW8. Joe and his friends didn't have anything to do with the lp.

Some years later, the master reel to reel tape was borrowed and transferred to DAT. Someone recently sent me a copy and that has been used for this project.

When I listened to the tape I found that the azimuth (head to tape alignment) changed constantly. Fortunately there is now software which can automatically track and correct the timing errors caused by poor azimuth, allowing one to fold down the two channels to mono (note that it was a mono tape to begin with!) and achieve a greatly improved result. There was (and always was) a damaged section during Golden Slumbers which also needed fixing. Some minor dropout during a few tracks I fixed too. The speed I left alone, since it seems to match the commercial mixes of the songs.

The guitar on the Donovan tape isn't at standard tuning. I tried speeding it up accordingly, but while this placed the guitar at standard pitch Paul's speaking voice sounded very squeaky and unnatural. So I've left it as it is. I figure that since the Abbey Road material is at the correct speed there is no reason to suppose the Donovan material isn't, particularly since it is a high quality reel to reel source. My own stance on speed correction is that unless there is a fixed-tuning instrument present it is impossible to know with any certainty what the exact speed should be, therefore I adopt a 'leave well enough alone' attitude unless it is extreme. Many of The Beatles EMI recordings are 'in the cracks' (off pitch) so there's plenty of precedent for this.

The Donovan tape is supposed to be from Mary Hopkins' 'Postcard' sessions, at least according to Mary herself. There seems to be a female voice present and at one point there's a discussion with the engineer about the guitar sound, so that would make sense. Traditionally the first song is billed as 'How Do You Do?' but it sounds to me like there's an 'it' on the end of it.

The bonus version of you Never Give Me Your Money is a hybrid created by me, adding Paul's bass from the commercial mix to Track 12. The instrumental versions are rockband mixes. Unlike most Beatles backing tracks which are fairly unremarkable, these are unique and fascinating in themselves and make great background music for Sunday housework! I've restored the original endings to Mean Mr Mustard and Golden Slumbers. Let It Be is a combination of the single and album mixes with lead vocal and drums/bass removed by oopsing. As a result you can clearly hear George Martin's brass overdubs and some extraordinarily beautiful harmony vocals from Paul and George (John wasn't present), which reach a sublime climax in the last 15 seconds or so." - Hobnail, Sept 2011. The Beatles U.S. Millennium Remasters 12CD set

The Beatles U.S. Collection of mono and stereo albums are taken from Capitol releases. There are only twelve titles. There are no major differences between the U.S. and U.K. albums beyond Magical Mystery Tour - Thus this set ends with that title.

The Beatles - Original Monaural Recordings from Millennium Remasters 6CD set

"We are now offering "THE ORIGINAL MONAURAL RECORDINGS" 6 CD set (HELP!, RUBBER SOUL, REVOLVER, SGT. PEPPER, and THE BEATLES [2CD]). The sound work is not our own, but comes from an exclusive set of mono CD's that came out of Japan (originals were housed in mock reel-to-reel boxes). The original sound sources are supposedly from safety copy tapes made by TOSHIBA EMI in the early 80's when they first put out the ORIGINAL MONO RECORDINGS on red vinyl. Upon close inspection there is no record noise, only slight hiss and sound anomalies associated with the actual master tapes. They have a broader sound and better dynamics than either the UK or Japanese Red mono LP's. They've been long out-of-print and should be a part of any serious Beatle collector?s collection. Our masters have been sourced from an original set of discs and are being offered under the moniker MILLENNIUM REISSUES." - Millennium Remasters

Dr Ebbetts Stereo Outfakes Released in 2003

The Beatles - Please Please Me [Dr Ebbetts 1CD Demonoid 1511529] Special Dr. Ebbetts "outfake" stereo remix featuring centered vocals and bass, except for "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You" and released 2003. "The stereo mix of this album was simply the twin-track as recorded on the sessions. The backing track on track left, the vocals (and background noise) on the right. What has been done here must have been quite a job. The right channel was panned to the middle of the stereo image every time the singing started and panned back to the right whenever it stopped. Listening to this on speakers and especially on headphones is really annoying my ears. The Beatles or George Martin would never consider 'mixing' it like this. The two points are only for the hard work and the sleeve." Prof Stoned. With headphones you can hear how it is done. Ex SBD stereo.

The Beatles - The Black Album: Remastered [no label 2CD HungerCity 3927] 2007 remaster of this classic bootleg of the 1969 Twickenham sessions using Purple Chick's A-B Road sources. "The Black Album was the first bootleg I ever heard. A rough transfer at a low bitrate; the worst of both worlds as far as audio is concerned. Better existed at the time, but this new collector didn't know that. Of course, this was the Beatles; this wasn't going to stop me. The sound of John Lennon incoherently screaming the tune of "House Of The Rising Sun" over a sea of crackling an hiss, Paul McCartney roaring something about Pakistanis in a manner distantly resembling "Get Back"; these were new, foreign, and somewhat scary noises to me.

"Now, in 2007, I've decided to revisit this old gem using Purple Chick's wonderful A/B Road collection, reconstructing this thing track by track, edit by edit; every track ends where it should, and the more memorable tape oddities are preserved (fun fact: the Black Album Hi-Heeled Sneakers wasn't just filled with dropouts, but actually was edited together from two takes! This took me about two hours to notice.) It does run at the right speed, though.}" - COMPILED BY TENNIRU 2007. Ex SBD mono. According to collectors, The Black Album 2LP boot n Eva Records arrived sometime in 1982 and supposedly ripped its contents from two other bootlegs - Sweet Apple Trax and Watching Rainbows.

The Beatles - Let It Be OST [no label 1CD Demonoid 1363638] Using Purple Chick's A-B Road as source, the entire Let It Be film soundtrack is imitated on this CD. Not exact as it misses bits and pieces but this is as good as it gets. Ex SBD mono. Another wonder fan job.

Lazy Tortoise

The Beatles - Cherry Bomb Concert! 1966 [Lazy Tortoise 1CD Dime 204354] live at Mid South Coliseum, Memphis, Tn. August 19, 1966, afternoon and evening show. This is Disc 4 of Lazy Tortoise's North American Tour Diary. "The evening Memphis show has gone down in history as the infamous "firecracker incident" as during "If I Needed Someone" some kids in the audience threw a lit cherry bomb near the stage which exploded. Legend has it that The Beatles all thought one of them had been shot and stopped playing, but total pro's that they were (and no doubt this was partially learned by their time in Hamburg enduring audience fights), The Beatles carried on as if nothing had happened (the audience certainly reacts, however).

"John Lennon later stated that it was this incident which sealed his decision that he no longer wanted to tour." Gd AUD mono. Listenable recording.

The Beatles - Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: MONO MIXES IN STEREO [Mirrorspock 1CD demonoid 2654670] This is a mono remix of Sgt Pepper's presented in stereo by Mirror Spock. "Upon playing the SGT. PEPPER'S album I was expecting this to be riddled with these same issues; becoming a mixed bag. What a nice surprise it was to find this album contains all the hallmarks of the mono mix: from the album's ambiance, to the reverb, to the different speed on "She's Leaving Home" - it's all there. It even contains the punch that the mono album had over the stereo album. It's something that I was afraid was going to be lost. Thankfully it's all there. Admittingly, at first, it's a bit off-setting hearing this mono mix come to life in stereo - but the more you play it, the more it becomes familiar territory." - Beatle Bob. Ex SBD stereo. The Beatles - Past Masters: MONO MIXES IN STEREO [Mirrorspock 2CD demonoid 2663575, 2664555] This is a mono remix of Past Masters presented in stereo by Mirror Spock. "A must welcomed surprise from Mirror Spock arrived a few weeks ago, THE BEATLES MONO MASTERS - (mono mixes in stereo) and I must say this has been one of the most delightful remix CDs that I've had the privilege of cranking up on the stereo. Headphones do not do these discs justice. As with the original mono mixes he worked from, these remixes have more snap and punch; more so than the true stereo counterparts from EMI. The remixes bring out subtleties buried in the mono mixes or enhance the bass, drums and rhythm guitars. There is actually more clarity in some of these remixes than I ever expected to hear. It's like a breath of fresh air and honestly, I'm amazed at what can be done by a non-professional outside of a studio environment. I know Mirror Spock has been working on perfecting these for quite some time now. I think the wait was worth it. Are they perfect? Most are. Some tracks do exhibit artifacts, but I believe it's mostly unavoidable. The Beatles original recordings were never perfect anyhow." - Beatle Bob. Ex SBD stereo.

The Beatles - Complete Beatles: Digital Vinyl Audiophile Collection? [Mobile Fidelity 14CD]

Copied from original MFSL vinyl copies, most of them sealed and played for the first time. This is likely to be the B Series which means it was copied from the A Series CDRs. Here is some info:

The Digital Vinyl Audiophile Collection (DVAC) began as a closed audiophile project in 2001. It is not a duplication or derivation of the fake MFSL collection printed in Italy and Japan. The DVAC discs are true direct-LP recordings and capture about 90% of the fidelity and 'feel' of pristine MFSL vinyl pressings (the other 10% being lost--or altered--in the digital domain). Moreover, this collection addresses some of the sound-level and artifact problems that persist on virtually all the official CDs, tapes and records. For instance, the new DVAC-4B disc is the first to present the original master recording of Run For Your Life without the "thump" noise.

First, the original DVAC project (A-Series) relied on high-quality pressings (some of which were sealed prior to recording) that could be captured directly with little or no noise. Second, all aspects of the recording and copying involved quality audio components; the original analogue material was never compromised by software filters or home computer equipment. With the exception of Please Please Me, all titles were recorded using the shortest and cleanest signal path possible: phono stage to CD recorder. The result is a "permanent" near-mint collection of rare audiophile recordings.

The Mobile Fidelity LPs used to produce the A-series master discs were solid examples of mint and mint-minus JVC-Japan pressings. In fact, the DVAC discs boast reference quality sound for the three most admired Beatles albums: The sources for Abbey Road and Revolver were virgin (prior sealed) pressings, while the source for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was an equally pristine UHQR pressing! Only rarely throughout this collection can you hear a soft click through loudspeakers. With headphones, inherent vinyl noise and hiss from the original master tapes are more prominent, but seldom offensive.

The new B-Series project exploits the digital format and success of the first collection. The digital master tracks were extracted to computer, de-clicked and/or edited *only* if necessary, and then burned onto new master discs. This supplemental stage improved the intertrack quality of the play discs, and it eliminated the few audible clicks that were captured in the original project. It does not appear that any bit errors were introduced by the two additional copy stages (one read, one write).

The Digital Vinyl Audiophile Collection omits The Beatles (White Album) because the quality and fidelity of the 1998 CD re-issue is already excellent. The digital re-issue of Yellow Submarine sounds even better, but was partially used here to produce a superior 'original' album. For the other 10 titles, the best high-fidelity stereo sound is still limited to select vinyl pressings; hence this collection.

The original albums in this series were all sourced from MFSL vinyl:

Please Please Me (1963)
With the Beatles (1963)
A Hard Day's Night (1964)
Beatles for Sale (1964)
Help! (1965)
Rubber Soul (1965)
Revolver (1966)
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967)
Magical Mystery Tour (1967)
The Beatles (1968)*
Yellow Submarine (1969)
Abbey Road (1969)
Let it Be (1970)

* The trader who offered me the set included the Beatles White Album as a 2CD set. But according to the info about the DVAC set, the White Album was omitted. The trader also said his copies were silver discs pressed in Japan. There is a possibility that my copies are not the famous DVAC set.

BEATLES VINYL RIPS

The Beatles - Help [EMI 1st pressing/ tube cut] Original UK 1st pressing. Tube cut refers to the actual mastering/cutting of the record itself. EMI's mastering guru, H. T. Moss used cutting equipment up until the end of 1968 or so which was powered by vacuum tubes (or valves as they call them in the UK). Afterwards they went to solid state equipment. The -1 refers to final number in the matrix dead wax info. A -1 would indicate the first press. stamper was used to make the record. Since Help was cut in 1965 it would have to be a tube cut version and not a later solid state cut. Many people prefer the warmth provided by tubes to the slightly more sterile sound of solid state versions. Ripped from vinyl to CD by pbthal, Jan 2009. Ex SBD stereo.

I bought Adobe Audition and a brand new Technics deck a while back and started the long process... so this is about as good as I can get - I have re-recorded at the right speed (my old deck didn't have adjustable speeds and kinda went faster when it warmed up...) Also I have newer/better copies of many of the discs now and I honestly can't remember which tracks are from the newer copies." If it was excellent before now it’s Ex+ SBD stereo/mono. The Beatles - Abbey Road [Toshiba 'Black Triangle' PLUS demonoid 1185814] "The unrivalled Toshiba Abbey Road 'first generation CD' version issued in 1983. Soon after it got released it was withdrawn because of legal problems. There is no pré-emphasis added, no CD-mastering compression and/or filtering. What you hear is the LP-record master, you experience the full-dynamic range of the music and the hiss ;-) . But héé, who cares, it's The Beatles! It's the most open and natural-sounding 'Abbey Road', in my opinion, and I heard a few. The EMI-version or the 'Japanese Red'-version do not come even close to this one. OUT-OF-PRINT.

"What makes this the 'Black Triangle' PLUS, is the 6db volume boost and the slight bass boost: 60Hz +2.9db, 170Hz +2.2db, 310Hz +1.6db." Ex SBD stereo.

After all they had been "butchered" years early by the American company Capitol Records, now they were being again, but this time within their own EMI camp!

"Now, many years later, upon listening to these versions really loud you can't beat the artistry of these mixes. You won't be disappointed! And don't forget, it's stereo!" - from the liner notes. Ex SBD mono/stereo.

"This 21 volume set contains the entire Days In Their Life program as it was originally broadcast in the early '80s. The Days In Their Life was originally pressed onto 30 vinyl LP records. It was these vinyl LPs that radio stations used as a source for their broadcasts. The collection presented here is sourced from one of these original broadcast vinyl LP sets.

"The LP set used for this remastered series is from the personal archives of Ira Lipson, the narrator of this extensive program. This particular series is made possible through his generosity, and trust. His support is sincerely appreciated.

"This remastered version has attempted to upgrade the listening experience by replacing almost all of the music tracks with high quality audio from sources such as Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs, DCC Compact Classics and Dr. Ebbetts Sound Systems.

"All of this has been done while maintaining the integrity of the original broadcast. No material has been added and no part of the original program has been removed. The result is a listening experience superior to what was possible during the original broadcast.

"A splendid time is guaranteed for all."

HELTER SKELTER [Fan made label]

The Beatles - Please Please Me Studio Sessions - Back To Basics UPGRADED [Helter Skelter Records 2CD demonoid 2577589] This is a new fan label along the same lines as Remasters Workshop. This appears to be their second release, an upgrade of their first. A remake of the Beatles Studio 2 Sessions, 1963. Sources are all from other bootlegs like Yellow Dog, Swingin' Pig and Strawberry Records among others. And like Remasters Workshop, Helter Skelter promise "best possible sources, pitch, phase and level corrected". Some tracks on both CD1 and CD2 have been replaced with "corrected versions" ie improved. There are now two more tracks added to CD2. Ex SBD stereo/mono. New version released March 2011. If this was a paying label, we'd be cursing. Thankfully this is shared freely.

The Beatles - Please Please Me Studio Sessions - Back To Basics VERSION 4 [Helter Skelter Records 2CD demonoid 2616540] six new songs added plus two upgraded in quality. "This is essentially an upgraded version of the whole album, with several additions and also one track in much upgraded quality. Many of the levels have been corrected meaning the overall sound is much better". Ex SBD stereo/mono. Released in May 2011.

The Beatles - Unforgettable: The McCartney Christmas Album: REBUILT VERSION [Helter Skelter Records 1CD demonoid 2582560] In 1965, Paul McCartney made a private album for John, George and Ringo for Christmas. "I made experimental recordings and tape loops, like the ones In Tomorrow Never Knows. And once I put together something crazy, something left-field, just for the other Beatles, a fun thing which they could play late in the evening. It was just something for the mates, basically.

"It was called Unforgettable and it started with Nat 'King' Cole singing Unforgettable. It was like a magazine programme, full of weird interviews, experimental music, tape loops, some tracks I knew the others hadn't heard; it was just a compilation of odd things."

This was first released by His Master's Choice in January 2011 on vinyl and CD. In March 2011, fan label Helter Skelter "rebuilt" the LP and released it on the net in lossless digital flac. "On the original release, HMC edited one of the song intros to use it in two separate places, this has been undone. And also the tracklist has been restored to its original form, presenting the album as it should be."

What His Master's Choice did was replace all the songs by Nat King Cole, Martha and the Vandellas and others with new digital versions and left all the weird tape loops and Paul chats intact. HMC's source appears to be a copy from Lennon's archives. But John reused the tape that he copied the acetate to and some of the original music/talk/ sound is lost. Helter Skelter has "rebuilt" it to the correct running order. Hope all this is now clear. Ex SBD stereo.

The Beatles - The Peter Sellers Tape: Remastered [Helter Skelter Records HSR04 1CD demonoid 2588663] The 1968 White Album sessions tape that was given by Ringo to actor Peter Sellers. Just 12 songs. The tape was auctioned after Sellers' death in 1989. In 1990, Yellow Dog was first to release the tape on Unsurpassed Masters Vol 4. Then the best bootleg version surfaced in 1993 on the Masterdisc label. This Helter Skelter version is a "pitch, phase and level drop out corrected" version of the Masterdisc bootleg. Ex SBD stereo.

The Beatles - With The Beatles: Back To Basics [Helter Skelter Records HSR 06/07 2CD demonoid 2603609] The Beatles at EMI Studio 2, 1963 to record With The Beatles. "All tracks are pitch, phase, level and drop out repaired from the best possible sources - meaning each track should be as close to the original studio sessions as possible. This is the most complete and best sounding collection of sessions from the album ever assembled." - Helter Skelter Records. Ex SBD mono/stereo. A gem.

The Beatles - Christ You Know [Helter Skelter 1CD demonoid 2599054] 10 versions of The Ballad Of John & Yoko plus one song suspected of inspiring John to write Ballad Of John & Yoko. Single mix, acetate, mono mix and Anthology 5.1 extractions. VG+ to Ex SBD stereo.

The Beatles - A Hard Day's Night Studio Sessions: Back To Basics [Helter Skelter HSR08-011 4CD demonoid 2648542] CD1 and 2 studio sessions. CD3 MPI home video stereo soundtrack and Restored MONO soundtrack. CD4 Fake stereo DVD soundtrack. "Included for the first time are several new studio chats and recordings, ALL 3 Movie soundtracks, and also the Original Odeon Mono Single (0 22 671) - containing a rare and unique mix of the German Single Tracks. Note the very high vocal level (almost distorted) - a very different mono mix to the one widely available on commercial discs. There are also several other tracks that have not been released in AHDN compilations in the past." VG+ to Ex SBD stereo/mono.

The Beatles - Beatles For Sale: Studio Sessions, Back To Basics [Helter Skelter Records demonoid 2686079] The Beatles recorded this album for EMI, Sept 30, 1964 at Studio 2 and ended in August 1964. Ex SBD mono/stereo.

The Beatles - Yellow Chatter Custard Vol 1 and 2 [Helter Skelter Records HSR014-015 2CD demonoid 2731594, 2732788, 2733394] "YCC brings together all known material that emerged during the Remasters 2009 era over 2 volumes, this includes:
-Mini Documentaries DVD (part of the Stereo Box set)
-The Beatles On Record (a BBC Documentary broadcast in September 2009)
-090909 Radio Show (again broadcast around the time of the release of the remasters)
-All Together Now DVD (The Making of Love DVD - although this was long before 090909)
-The Rockband Game (these taken from the PS3 via Optical Output and some as raw files taken from the internet)"

These are just the intros and studio chatter, no complete songs. Also all tracks are less than a minute. All the extras could not be burn to CD-R as software only permits maximum of 100 tracks. The bonus material exceeded the number of tracks. Ex SBD stereo.

REMASTERS WORKSHOP [Fan made label]

The Beatles - Rarer Than Rare: Remastered Edition [Remasters Workshop w Bootleg Records KAS 092 1CD demonoid 2570501] In order to fit the original double LP bootleg to one CD, Oh My Love by The Wackers was omitted as this is not a John Lennon demos as claimed. Additionally 12 of the 20 tracks on the second LP had to be replaced with better sources as the record's pressing was "terrible". Mostly mono. VG to Ex SBD mono/ stereo.

The Beatles - Stars & Stripes: Remastered [Remasters Workshop 570/571 2CD demonoid 2592644] CD1 live at Hollywood Bowl, Aug 23, 1964 and Aug 30, 1965. CD2 live at Hollywood Bowl, Aug 29, 1965 and live at Candlestick Park, San Francisco, Aug 29, 1966. This is a remaster of HMC's Stars & Stripes bootleg [HMC 010]. Apparently speed, pitch and phase corrected. Ex SBD stereo.

The Beatles - Open-End Interview: Remastered Edition [Remasters Workshop RMW 653 1CD demonoid 2576926] US DJ Promo record meant for b'cast Feb 7 to 21, 1964 and included three Beatles tunes. The rest were open-ended dialogue with the Beatles. "For many years, the musical portions have been identified as 'ping-pong' mixes... Under further examination these turn out not to be special mixes... but the result of a mastering error at the Capitol plant. It sounds as though a mono signal was fed to the stereo cutting heard..." Hence the 'ping-pong' effect. At least that's how the Remasters Workshop explains this. Ex SBD mono.

The Beatles - Christmas Album: Remastered Edition [Remasters Workshop RMW 687 1CD demonoid 2604123] This is an upgrade of the His Masters Choice bootleg, Christmas Album, which was sourced from original vinyl copies. The Beatles - Backyard Spool: Remastered [Remasters Workshop 057 demonoid 2679735] A 2004 remaster by Remasters Workshop of the Masterdisc MDCD013 silver disc bootleg. Acetates declicked, phase and pitch corrected. "This remaster features eight mid-late-period acetates, all meticulously declicked, and very high quality recordings of some other familiar material. The last track, Not Guilty is a forgery, with jarring edits back and forth between the two stereo mixes, to create a different version... for what purpose, I'm not sure. There is, however, a well-done composite of all of the bits of You Know My Name from both the mono single and the stereo Anthology version. Overall, a very nice-sounding disc." VG to Ex SBD stereo/mono. Rereleased July 2011.

The Beatles - Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da Remastered Edition [Remasters Workshop RMW 723-724 2CD demonoid 2726550] "Everything on Disc 1 is sourced from vinyl, clicks and pops and thumps intact. Everything was at the wrong speed - some more than a semitone off - and horribly out of phase. There were inexplicable gaps in some of the waveforms. I don't know if the original is like that, or whether it was bad extraction. And two of the "Oh! Darling" rehearsals were repeated later on the disc. First they were excerpted, and then a few versions later was the longer, uncut tape of the same session, the one where John says "I've just heard that Yoko's divorce has gone through. I'm free!" This version has had the excerpt omitted.

Disc 2 was mainly from CD sources, each at a slightly different variation of pitch off A=440, with levels all over the map and out of phase. All of these anomalies were fixed.despite the bit on the front cover stating that this album includes the complete versions of "Dig It" and "Christmas Time (Is Here Again)," it does not. There is more of "Dig It" that didn't surface until some years after this disc was made, and the longest version of "Christmas Time" is the incomplete version that is on, for instance, Yellow Dog's "Acetates" (where it isn't an acetate, either). The complete version of this track is on several other sources which use recordings from "The Boardroom Tape." - RMW, Sept 11, 2011. Ex- SBD stereo.

The Beatles - Nothing But Aging: Remastered Edition [Remasters Workshop RMW 735 CD Demonoid 2725941] The source is the 1991 vinyl bootleg from Vigotone VT-LP68. Declicked, denoised, pitch and phase corrected. "Everything on this album was so out of phase that it sounded stereo, but they are all mono recordings. They are restored to true mono with no phase cancellations now. Everything was at the wrong speed, and that's fixed. Also, the wandering pitch in The Rishikesh Tape is fixed as well." - RMW, August 2011. Ex- SBD mono.

The Beatles - Songs From The Past: Remastered Edition [Remasters Workshop RMW 745-749 5CDs Demonoid 2726105] The source for this remaster are from original pressings on Disques du Monde and Sidewalk Music. "Rather than try to recreate the original CDs, I put a track marker in at each tape edit to a new segment, which means that there are more tracks on these discs than the originals, and the placement is different in spots. But all the music is here, restored to true mono and adjusted to A=440, and the wandering audio levels are straightened out." - RMW, Sept 10, 2011. Ex- SBD mono.

The Beatles - Arrive Without Travelling: Remastered Edition [Remasters Workshop RMW 761 1CD demonoid 2743829] pitch & phase corrected version of Vigotone VT-LP 69, Arrive Without Travelling. VG SBD stereo/mono. The original vinyl bootleg was itself not from a good source.

The Beatles - The Beatles At The BEEB: Remastered Edition [Remasters Workshop RMW 773-775] Presented by Andy Peebles, this is the close to three hours US broadcast which apparently has a bit more than the UK broadcast. RMW claims they have declicked and corrected the levels and pitch, October 2011. Ex transcription vinyl stereo?

The Beatles - At The Beeb 2hr UK Version, Remastered Edition (Remasters Workshop RMW 737-738 2CD hungercity 26137) First released by mojofilter in 2011. "This is the original BBC program that eventually spawned the EMI "Live At The BBC" set, but not before it also spawned a good number of bootleg albums. Made in 1982, the program was produced by Kevin Howlett and Jeff Griffin, and narrated by Andy Peebles. It is presented here as recorded off-air from ABC-FM in Adelaide, Australia. The quality of the tape recording was perfect. The levels of the songs and narration, however, were all over the map. These have been brought into line with each other to sound the same all the way through. Every song was at the wrong speed, so they were all tuned to A=440. The recording worked out to two discs, one just under an hour and the other just over. There is commentary at the beginning and end by the ABC-FM announcer.

"Although some of this material has been made available in much better shape since this show was compiled, the quality of the recordings you'll hear was all they had at the time. The sound quality only strays from excellent a handful of times. This is a very entertaining program, highlighted by commentary from Peter Pilbeam, Bernie Andrews, Terry Henebery and Brian Matthew." The Beatles - The Stereo Walk: Remastered Edition [Remasters Workshop RMW 776] This is a remaster of the 1985 vinyl bootleg, The Stereo Walk (Rubber Soul B4A/B4B). Declicked, denoised, pitch, phase & levels corrected in October 2011. VG+ SBD stereo.

The Beatles - Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: A History Of The Beatle Years 1962 - 1970: Remastered Edition (Remasters Workshop RMW 918-923 6CDs hungercity 26082) A radio show from Oct 1984 produced by Westwood One and presented by Roger Scott.

"Thanks to the generosity of a collector who wishes to remain anonymous, we are happy to be able to present a fresh transfer of the 24 sides of this iconic radio series from October 1984, directly from a pristine set of the original Westwood One albums.

"By leaving out the commercials, the program was able to fit on six CDs. The results sound slightly better than the records, because a lot of the sound sources are from tape, each of which had a different degree of azimuth miscalibration during playback. With the phase corrected, they sound pretty much exactly like they ought to. The pitch of each piece of music has been corrected, where possible. Not only were all the clicks removed from the records, but also from vinyl sources they used in the program for interview excerpts (such as Brian Epstein).

"This show was not publicized by Westwood One, very likely due to the inclusion of 40-odd unreleased recordings spread among the obligatory EMI tracks. Neither was it reviewed in trade publications. Limited broadcasts of the program were the source of quite a few tracks that turned up on Beatles bootlegs between 1985 and 1988. The first of these was "Not For Sale" on the NEMS label, sourced from a tape of an airing in Los Angeles. The show was bootlegged in its entirety on a vinyl set by Yellow Dog (before they used that name) out of Europe (blue box, blank labels), which serves as the source for a CD-R set on the Black Cat label. One of the discs in that set is corrupted due to faulty extraction, and all of them suffer from the clicks and pops on the records and ground hum from the turntable's cartridge.

"By 1988, copies of Roger Scott's source tapes (which he obtained from visits to EMI with engineer John Barrett) had found their way to bootleggers, and were released as "Ultra Rare Trax" and "Unsurpassed Masters," in dribs and drabs on such titles as "Control Room Monitor Mixes" and eventually as "The Barrett Tapes" in several different configurations and under several titles."
