FFWD - 'Orbert' Demo [no label 1CD Torrent: 154141] "Unreleased 51 minute
long demo mix know as 'Orbert' from which emerged the FFWD album. This
was reported to come directly from ex-Orb member Thrash's harddrive as
an uncompressed AIFF file. FFWD stands for Thomas Fehlmann (Sun Electric),
Robert Fripp, Kris Weston, and Dr. Alex Paterson (the latter two of the
Orb), and as that lineup suggests, was probably ambient's first supergroup.
Although a one-off project with no certain plans of reconvening, the album
resulting from the few days in the studio spent recording it is a landmark
of experimental ambient and surprisingly unlike the various projects its
contributors are known for. Closest in feel perhaps to some of the Orb's
more recent releases (Pomme Fritz and Orbus Terrarum), FFWD deviates strongly
in its sparseness and subtlety. Fripp's guitar is heavily atmospheric
and subjected to the sort of heaping effects processing Fehlmann and Weston
are known for; Paterson reportedly recorded hours of the virtuoso just
noodling around on his six-string and assembled the bits into usable passages
only after the fact. Thanks to inspired arrangements and an emphasis on
texture, FFWD is also one of only a few albums to successfully figure
the guitar in a central position without sounding off-balance or obligatory."

best sounding soundboard of the Rumours tour - and an upgrade from what
I've previously heard of this recording. It's a seamless recording meaning
there are no cuts or edits between tracks. There is a very slight cut
at the end of disc one, but it's right at the end of Gold Dust Woman,
no vocals are cut. There is also a slight cut in at the beginning of disc
two, but again no vocals are sliced off."

Buckingham Nicks - Coffee Plant Demos [no label 1CD Torrent: 56389] These
are Buckingham Nicks demos c. 1970-1974. "They are called the "coffee
plant demos" because Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks used to record
in the basement of Lindsey's father's coffee plant before they went to
LA to get a record deal. However, I feel that it is a bit of a misnomer
because we know Sorcerer and Garbo were written after the couple arrived
in LA. Regardless, these are wonderful quality demos. While some of these
were released later by Stevie or Fleetwood Mac, the gem Without You, the
aptly named Cathouse Blues, and the quaint Goldfish and the Ladybug never
made it off the shelf. Authorship is not documented in those cases, but
although Without You may have been co-written, it is safe to say the others
were penned by Stevie Nicks." These are the various vocal, instrumental

Buckingham's hugely anticipated follow-up to his 1992 masterpiece 'Out

to re-record the tracks with Fleetwood Mac and release them on the next
Fleetwood Mac studio album 'Say You Will' which was released in 2003.
MP3s of this CD surfaced on the internet in 2001 and are believed to be
the mixed tracks but not mastered tracks from "Gift Of Screws", recording

Furniture - Live at the Fulham Greyhound [no label 1CD Torrent: 65451]
"Furniture, a much misunderstood and unheard band
that have obtained some kind of cult status in recent years. Most notable
are the high prices that both their last album Food, Sex and Paranoia
and Survival Compilation She Get's out the Scrapbook are getting on CD
these days. Main reason being that it is taking an age to get them re-released
and these are the only CD albums that were ever pressed." Ex SBD stereo. |
