This event even has a rare Zeppelin performance of For Your Love." A December [?] 2006 release. VG+ AUD stereo.

Led Zeppelin - Dancing Avocado: Supreme Edition (The Complete PCM Master) [AJD/JamesSKG 2CD Torrent: 53216] Live at Fillmore West, San Francisco, California (USA), Apr 24, 1969. These are audience recordings with two stereo mics right on the stage.

"This is as close as you'll ever get the high speed reel master source. AJD owns the original PCM transfer from those reels and the reels have since been destroyed by fire. This originally came from Bill Graham's vault. The original PCM is the now definitive source, but was not widely circulating until now. This is the most complete tape circulated in this quality to date.

"This show had some PA problems in a few places (Jones' bass rig, mainly) and the PA had a slight buzz all night (only noticeable between songs or very quiet passages). But hey, that's how it went down that night, so it's just like being there - except - Plant's mic seems distant - which adds credibility to the 2 neumanns on stage thing. They'd have picked up the drums and amps and Roberts voice would have been on the house PA, which was probably just forward of the mics (or in line). I kind of like it this way - as I can really hear the band!" Ex AUD stereo. Highly recommended.

Led Zeppelin - The Dancing Avocado [Godfather Records 1CD demon 1750255] Live at Fillmore West, San Francisco, California (USA), Apr 24, 1969. These are audience recordings with two stereo mics right on the stage. Latest release 2008. Ex- AUD stereo. Godfather records are TOO LOUD.

Led Zeppelin - San Francisco 1969 [no label 2CD] live at Fillmore West, Apr 27 1969. Remastered soundboard. Ex SBD stereo. Supposedly better than Collage, released on TDOLZ.

Led Zeppelin - The Devil’s Blues [Genuine Masters 2CD torrent 105178] live at Fillmore West, Apr 27, 1969, first & second show. This is the audio portion taken from Genuine Masters’ DVD-A release. The source is the soundboard tape with gaps filled by a very good audience recording. This version from 2004 is said to be the best for this show. Ex- SBD/AUD stereo. A little rough.

Led Zeppelin - San Francisco 1969 [no label 2CD] live at Fillmore West, Apr 27, 1969, broadcast on radio. This is taken from rebroadcast on KSJO in the spring of 1979, 10 years after the original performance. VG+ FM stereo. CD 2 has the tracks arranged differently from the tracklist. Muffled and boomy.

Led Zeppelin - Newport Jazz Festival 1969 Source 2 (no label 1CD dime 475468) live at Newport Jazz Festival, Newport, Rhode Island, US, July 6, 1969. Audience Recording - Source 2 (No Label) from reel master to 1st gen cassette. "Source II started circulating mid October 2003. This is the complete second source used for the last couple songs of the ZD release. What's interesting is that the PA problems that are so common in the first source seem almost non-existent in this source. You can hear the same people yelling to turn it up as in source 1 but Plant's voice comes through here probably the clearest of all. Jimmy's guitar is slightly in the background. Towards the end of How Many More Times the balance changes a bit but it's still the same source. There are also some radio spots which are interesting to listen to.

This is a real good set which sounds a lot better (IMO) than the ZD release. Empress Valley released this a few months after it came out but it was greatly EQ'ed. I received this from the taper's friend" - Javit VG+ AUD stereo. DATA FILE ONLY

Led Zeppelin - Piston 70: Remastered version of Lost show found in 2013 [no label 2CD hungercity 23845] live at Piston 70, Ecole Centrale, Chatenay-Malabry, France, Dec 6, 1969. "This previously unknown recording turned up March 2, 2013.  It's great but there were a few things I thought could be improved, so this is my remaster." - watchit. "This recording had a few places which were much louder than the rest, especially at the end of Moby Dick and the start of How Many More Times.  I have boosted the volume in other areas while leaving those areas at the original volume level, so that the sound level is now more consistent.  I also copied the left channel to the right, since the right channel was defective at the start.  I also filtered out the upper treble, where there was no music, only hiss. Lastly, I reindexed and renamed the tracks.  Artwork by others is now included." The result of using only the left channel rendering this to mono, has meant that the size of the data file is now reduced to 289mb. Line-up: Robert Plant: vocals; Jimmy Page: guitar; John Paul Jones: bass, organ; John Bonham: drums. VG+ AUD mono. From the master tape. DATA FILE ONLY.

This new release has taken what was already a three layer cake and added the richest icing possible. Godfather has improved the seemingly unimprovable. They did what was said couldn't be done. They have taken the best sounding soundboard out there and turned it into the best sounding soundboard ever. Sure Flying Circus is great but this recording blows it away. Godfather used a professional recording studio to work their magic on this release. This release may definitely take the place of the official Live Led Zeppelin releases in my collection. This release has a beefier sound to it which overall makes this a slamming recording. There's absolutely no hiss present and this is as clean as it gets. This  release will help to set Godfather's Legacy in stone." - Collector Music Reviews. Ex SBD stereo. TOO LOUD. Some fans still prefer Four Blocks In The Snow as best version.

"Tarantura advertises that its version of the audience tapes featured in this set is from "Mike Millard Master". However, it is probably a mistake or misunderstanding. As I hear, the tapes used in the set are the same old familiar audience tapes which are generally thought to be recorded by someone other than Mike Millard. Nevertheless, I think that Tarantura did is a good job in skillfully mastering the tapes and presenting them in best ever qualities and in most complete forms. As I compare the sound of this set with those of Scorpio's "Seattle Supersonic" and Last Stand Disc's "The Hammer Of The Gods", the tapes from the show on 21 March as featured in this new set is an apparent upgrade over what were previously available." - Takemi Hiramatsu May 06. The sources are as follows:

"An incomplete version of the film was screened in the 1970's, and an audience tape was made of the soundtrack. This version comes from the mega-rare boot LP "Solo Performances"

"A supposedly finished version was also bootlegged on a 10" blue vinyl record, called "Lucifer Rising". This version was re-spliced together for this torrent.

"Empress Valley's The Complete British Broadcasting Corporation Radio Sessions is the latest in a long line of releases, both official and unofficial, covering Zeppelin's early radio career. Given their origins with the BBC the sound quality of these tapes has almost always been at least very good if not excellent covering the embryonic Zeppelin. Since the release of the BBC Sessions on Atlantic Records in 1998 there have not been many unofficial releases covering this material and this is the first all inclusive set. The sound quality and presentation of the Empress Valley collection is across the board excellent and a worthy upgrade to all previous issues including the official release with some reservations discussed below. Empress Valley make the claim they use the pre-FM master recordings except for the March 19th Alexis Korner session, which comes from an "aircheck master" (i.e., it was taped off of a shortwave broadcast)." Leadbelly - Minneapolis 1948 [no label 1CD tradersden 32812] live at a private party [home of Clifford Nanz who taught at UMinn] Minneapolis, MN, Nov 21, 1948. "The circumstances of the party where he was playing were also reflective of a larger reality. Minneapolis was a hotbed of civil rights activism in the late '40s, spearheaded by its mayor, Hubert Humphrey, who forced a civil rights plank into the platform of the 1948 Democratic National Convention and won a U.S. Senate seat in that same election; a lot of the issues that lay just beneath the surface of Leadbelly's songs were the currency of conversation on the campus of the University of Minnesota, where this performance took place. Leadbelly ranges across his whole repertoire, including "Mississippi River," "Goodnight Irene," "Dicky" (which became "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine"), "Bourgeois Blues," "Stewball," and "Fannin Street." He also reminisces freely about the songs and his life in ways that a formal concert wouldn't normally allow. The audio quality is very good -- excellent, actually, given the age of the performance -- with a realistic room ambience and a close sound for the man and his guitar, and the disc is at least as essential listening as Leadbelly's Last Sessions." - Bruce Eder, All Music Guide. This recording circulates in Europe as a commercial CD but unclear if this recording is in public domain. It's almost 60 years old. Ex- AUD mono?

These recordings were released split in two, incomplete at the now very hard to find bootleg albums "Yellow Bird" and "Get Together" on Koala records. NOTES: "This set is as it was originally traded, details of which can be seen here:
The entire set is somewhat confusing in that whoever compiled this apparently took the performed songs and edited out the conversation & tuning up parts, placed the edited songs at the beginning of the disc, and then put the unedited source/s afterwards. On disc 1 there is one song not repeated in this"editing" process - "Softly" (track 4). On disc 2 there is one song that is not repeated in the "editing" process - "The Doomsday Song" (track 23). Disc 3 seems completely redundant, but that's how this set was put together so I'm including it here. Disc 4 only repeats the edited Lightfoot portions at the beginning, and there is one song not repeated in the "editing" process - "instrumental #2" (track 26)." - dajchance

Arthur Lee and Love - The Hendrix Sessions [no label 1CD Torrent: 74284] Tks 1-8 with Hendrix live at Olympia Studios, London March 1970. Tks 9-17 Love Live at Falkoner Theatre in Copenhagen March 12, 1970. Tks 18-22 Love live at Tivoli Gardens March, 1970. "At sometime during the month of March, they jammed in the studio with Jimi. These sessions apparently were put onto an acetate, which Arthur Lee brought into a radio station at a later date. The acetate was played over the air, and the radio transmission was recorded with amateur equipment, which accounts for the sound quality. It's possible that is Arthur Lee's voiceover fragment at the very beginning of Midnight Sun. There are eight tracks in all." The rest of the tracks are taken from Love's tour of Europe in March 1970.

Lone Justice - "Cowpunk Adolescense": Early Demos 1983-84 [no label 1CD Torrent: 73522] Fan CD, distributed by the Little Diva Mailing List in the late 1990s. "The true sound of Lone Justice - these demos, some of which were probably recorded in late 1983 just after the band signed to Geffen, are what LJ were really about. They are obviously not demos for the debut album as they have a raw, unpolished quality that was (to a certain extent) expunged when recording for the album commenced in mid-1984 and the big-names were brought in to commercialise the band." Nothing To Lose is a song sung by Claudine and here covered by Dimitri From Paris, Isabelle Antenna and others. Ex SBD stereo.

Claudine Longet - Sugar Me: The Lost Album [Vivid/ Barnaby 1CD] This compilation was reissued in 1999 in Japan only, with a different track order. Here's the story:

"Initially, Sugar Me was a proposed third album on Barnaby. For poorly documented reasons, the record was finished but eventually shelved. Barnaby switched distributors again in 1974, and perhaps this was a factor. The Longet/Williams divorce in 1975 couldn't have helped. The Spider Sabich scandal was probably the last straw, but I suspect the album's fate was already uncertain by then.

The original track listing differs from the above compilation, and includes (in order) "Anytime of the Year," "Guess Who I Saw in Paris," "All Alone Am I," "Rising Sun," "Don't Shut Me Out," "Sugar Me," "Dream Baby," "The Angel in Your Eyes," "Every Beat of My Heart," "You Don't Have to Be a Baby to Cry," "Life Is Full of Surprises" and "Who Broke Your Heart." The underlined tracks were never released, and the album notes imply that the master tapes are lost.

Against all odds, some of the discarded sessions resurfaced in 1993. Barnaby had been defunct since the late '70s, but Japan-based Century Records finally stepped in and licensed the forgotten material. To cover for the missing songs, the revamped package collected the sides of three non-LP singles, plus six previously unreleased rarities. Note that a few of the latter tunes have obvious vocal glitches, which might have been fixed with another take or two." Ex SBD stereo but with some tracks cut as explained in above notes. Lynyrd Skynyrd - The 1970 Quinvy Demos And More (ghostryder14 1CD demon 3193422) "In October 1970 Lynyrd Skynyrd recorded a demo at Quinvy Studios. Producer Quin Ivy did not care for their sound and passed on signing them. The tapes were passed on to Jimmy Johnson of the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio and liked what he heard so much that he took the band under his wing and recorded over an album's worth of material for a producer's fee if the album was released. the band never forgot what he did for them and in 1975 and 76 the current lineups went back and polished the material up with additional overdubs to release an album from the songs they did not re-record over the yrs . it was set to be released shortly after the release of their next album Street Survivors. then the tragic plane crash happened and was named simply Skynyrd's First And...Last. this collection contains those 1970 demos Jimmy Johnson heard , a 1969 demo, three unreleased and not overdubbed mixes from the 1971 (everything was basically overdubbed in some way on the official versions)".
