Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin I [no label 1CD] this is supposedly ripped from a vinyl copy "original mix from Matrix I". The vinyl was manufactured in UK. The sleeve shows "Polydor Records". Ex SBD stereo. A 2007 Japanese bootleg.

Led Zeppelin - Whisky A Go Go 1969 [Empress Valley 1CD Torrent #125885] live in Los Angeles, CA, January 5, 1969. "This is a previously unreleased recording of Led Zeppelin in their very early days. It is an audience recording, but very excellent quality- all of the instruments come through clearly, and for the most part are evenly balanced. This event even has a rare Zeppelin performance of For Your Love." A December [?] 2006 release. VG+ AUD stereo.

Led Zeppelin - In The Garden of Sweden [Beezelbub 2CD] live in Copenhagen, Denmark Mar 16 1969. CD1 is the excellent prebroadcast SBD recording and the tape of the FM broadcast. CD2 is the complete show in a poor audience recording. Some confusion over the date and venue. Some have listed this show as Mar 14 in Stockholm, Sweden. This new Beezelbub release has a bit more DJ chatter otherwise it is same quality of existing boots. I don't have the Beezelbub artwork.

Led Zeppelin - Dancing Avocado: Supreme Edition (The Complete PCM Master) [AJD/JamesSKG 2CD Torrent: 53216] Live at Fillmore West, San Francisco, California (USA), Apr 24, 1969. These are audience recordings with two stereo mics right on the stage.

"This is as close as you'll ever get the high speed reel master source. AJD owns the original PCM transfer from those reels and the reels have since been destroyed by fire. This originally came from Bill Graham's vault. The original PCM is the now definitive source, but was not widely circulating until now. This is the most complete tape circulated in this quality to date.

"This show had some PA problems in a few places (Jones' bass rig, mainly) and the PA had a slight buzz all night (only noticeable between songs or very quiet passages). But hey, that's how it went down that night, so it's just like being there - except - Plant's mic seems distant - which adds credibility to the 2 neumanns on stage thing. They'd have picked up the drums and amps and Roberts voice would have been on the house PA, which was probably just forward of the mics (or in line). I kind of like it this way - as I can really hear the band!" Ex AUD stereo. Highly recommended.

Led Zeppelin - The Devil’s Blues [Genuine Masters 2CD torrent 105178] live at Fillmore West, Apr 27, 1969, first & second show. This is the audio portion taken from Genuine Masters’ DVD-A release. The source is the soundboard tape with gaps filled by a very good audience recording. This version from 2004 is said to be the best for this show. Ex- SBD/AUD stereo. A little rough.

Led Zeppelin - San Francisco 1969 [no label 2CD] live at Fillmore West, Apr 27, 1969, broadcast on radio. This is taken from rebroadcast on KSJO in the spring of 1979, 10 years after the original performance. VG+ FM stereo. CD 2 has the tracks arranged differently from the tracklist. Muffled and boomy.

This is Ex SBD stereo with Robert Plant's vocals flushed left speaker. As good as the Empress Valley version. Some claim this is better.

Led Zeppelin - L'Olympia 1969: DJ Removed Version [no label 1CD torrent 174274] live in Paris, France, Oct 10, 1969. B'cast Dec 7, 2007 on Europe 2. This was originally recorded for the show "Musicorama", on French station Europe 1. First broadcast: 1969.11.02. The track Moby Dick was played but never broadcast. Ex SBD mono. The source for this is the digital FM version. BEST.

Led Zeppelin - BBC: 4:1:71 [no label 2CD] live at BBC’s Paris Theatre, London, April 1, 1971. Allegedly taken from a reel marked "master" and transferred to DAT. This version was broadcast on Japanese FM in 1990. This is a different mix from broadcasts after 1990. Possibly this is the original broadcast mix. Ex pre-FM/SBD stereo.

"Slightly better sound and more complete than the Last Stand release of this date (Live In Japan box sets), and without the metallic sound from overamplification that completely ruined the offering by Wendy (Live Peace In Hiroshima). The definitive version IMHO, I think you will agree." VG+ AUD stereo. A bit of a mash of sound.

Led Zeppelin - Live at Southampton University 1973 [theface07 Remaster 2CD torrent 158255] live in UK, Jan 22, 1973. "I took the opportunity to remaster the recording because I thought it could benefit from a few small adjustments. Firstly, there is a muddiness to the source which comes from low-mid frequencies. This has been adjusted. Secondly, the levels flucuate from track to track on the source. I have remedied this issue. I have also used some light compression to get a more balanced, crisp sound... No limiting or noise reduction of any kind has been used." A theface07 Remaster. Ex SBD stereo. Freshly discovered in mid 2007.

Led Zeppelin - Southampton (2008 CMI Music remaster) [CMI 2CD dime 215820] live at Old Refectory, University, Southampton, England, Jan 22, 1973. Recorded by Eddie Kramer. Mixed by Kevin Shirley. From rough multitrack mix-down. The source of this remaster is the silver disc Empress Valley bootleg "Live At Southampton - Working Tapes". Ex SBD stereo. TT: 02:32:28. CMI says "I fixed all glitches and crackles. Also all three gaps in recording were fixed. No EQ and no Noise Reduction were applied. Modern standard dynamic compression was applied, so now it sounds as loud and powerful as HTWWW. All tracks are re-indexed."

Led Zeppelin - Plant's Influenza [Empress Valley 2CD] live at Guildhall, Preston, UK, Jan 30, 1973. "Empress Valley have done it once again, this is a very nice way to end 2003, with the release of a completely new show to CD. This is the almost complete audience recording, for the postponed concert at the Guildhall in Preston, rescheduled on 30 January 1973. This was therefore the last concert of the Winter 72/73 UK Tour." - Jules McTrainspotter. Incomplete show. Ex- AUD stereo.

"Empress Valley's The Complete British Broadcasting Corporation Radio Sessions is the latest in a long line of releases, both official and unofficial, covering Zeppelin's early radio career. Given their origins with the BBC the sound quality of these tapes has almost always been at least very good if not excellent covering the embryonic Zeppelin. Since the release of the BBC Sessions on Atlantic Records in 1998 there have not been many unofficial releases covering this material and this is the first all inclusive set. The sound quality and presentation of the Empress Valley collection is across the board excellent and a worthy upgrade to all previous issues including the official release with some reservations discussed below. Empress Valley make the claim they use the pre-FM master recordings except for the March 19th Alexis Korner session, which comes from an "aircheck master" (i.e., it was taped off of a shortwave broadcast)." Claudine Longet - Sugar Me: The Lost Album [Vivid/ Barnaby 1CD] This compilation was reissued in 1999 in Japan only, with a different track order. Here's the story:

"Initially, Sugar Me was a proposed third album on Barnaby. For poorly documented reasons, the record was finished but eventually shelved. Barnaby switched distributors again in 1974, and perhaps this was a factor. The Longet/Williams divorce in 1975 couldn't have helped. The Spider Sabich scandal was probably the last straw, but I suspect the album's fate was already uncertain by then.

The original track listing differs from the above compilation, and includes (in order) "Anytime of the Year," "Guess Who I Saw in Paris," "All Alone Am I," "Rising Sun," "Don't Shut Me Out," "Sugar Me," "Dream Baby," "The Angel in Your Eyes," "Every Beat of My Heart," "You Don't Have to Be a Baby to Cry," "Life Is Full of Surprises" and "Who Broke Your Heart." The underlined tracks were never released, and the album notes imply that the master tapes are lost.

Against all odds, some of the discarded sessions resurfaced in 1993. Barnaby had been defunct since the late '70s, but Japan-based Century Records finally stepped in and licensed the forgotten material. To cover for the missing songs, the revamped package collected the sides of three non-LP singles, plus six previously unreleased rarities.
